Anthurium: A Must-Have for Indoors The anthurium requires some care, especially since this tropical plant can sometimes struggle to adapt to our homes and apartments. Growing an anthurium indoors is entirely possible, provided you follow a few rules, which are outlined in the following valuable tips. Ideal Exposure: The anthurium requires plenty of light but does not need direct sunlight. Too much sun exposure can dry out the plant, which needs a certain level of humidity to flower and thrive. Therefore, place it near a window that lets in plenty of light, but avoid direct sun rays. Ideal Temperature for an Anthurium: The temperature in a house or apartment is ideal, as it should be between 18 and 21°C all year round. From May to September, you can take the plant outside without any problem, but bring it back inside in the evening if the nights are cool. Ambient Air and Humidity Needs: The only thing an anthurium may not tolerate is the dry air in our homes. In winter, when the heating is on, the air becomes less humid, so it is important to regularly mist the foliage with water. You can also place the pot on a bed of pebbles, clay balls, or gravel that is always moist, which is excellent for the plant. Anthurium Care: A few care tips and regular maintenance should help you have a beautiful plant and prolong its flowering, making it bloom again. Watering an Anthurium: In Spring and Summer: For potted anthuriums, watering should be regular but moderate, ideally when the soil surface is dry. Don't wait too long, especially in hot weather, as the plant could suffer. If your tap water is hard, choose any kind of spring water or collect rainwater for watering. Prefer lukewarm water rather than too cold, as the temperature difference can cause significant stress to the anthurium.
